Reading HIT updates is something that takes a spot on my plate almost daily - because that's about how frequently things are changing.  Today I see that the Democratic leadership of Congress and President Obama are inching closer to insurance reform, albeit probably without a government option at this point.  I'm all for lowering costs (thus joining the EHR initiative corporately), we support better technology (and have a history of implementing cutting-edge best-of-breed software and concepts)...but the unknown of where this is all going is, well, a little frightening.  My encouragement to my readers today is to - read.  Read, read, read, and stay educated on the latest steps in the healthcare arena, be it insurance, HIT or EMR/EHR.  Consider the information part of honing your craft.  Or a tool of your trade.  A well-worth-it time investment.  While surprises may lie ahead for all of us, let us not encounter surprises which stem from our own ignorance.
